Informative. And what do you say IS iron?
Ive gone up the north side of the river, mined black/dark rocks, and what I got was iron.
While your experience may not be the same, perhaps you would atleast help the OP by being -a little- more descriptive?

i went NE of the map near the AI city on the boat (you will recognize it when u see it), south of that boat you have a canyon filled with a bit of water, thats the place where i found lots of grey rocks(iron) and black rocks(coal)

Thanks for the clarification of colors SkeiLPRo, I only found iron so far and assumed that greyness was "black" ;)

There is an easy to access place for iron. You can see the color of the iron nodes and the location around minute 2 in this video:

You will get Iron as a very rare resource from any rocks. But you will get 80-90% iron when mining the silver/grey 'Iron' nodes.

You can find Iron nodes tucked in against cliff edges mostly. Either down near the central river, or along valleys hiding against cliff edges.

Here's a random map i found:

found black and gray rocks and got only stone

Jet black are coal, grey or almost white are generally iron. Some rocks that look black are just normal stone. You have to just try hitting things and see what you get, then you'll know what to hit in future, things may look different on your monitor depending on your setup. But you'll get some stone when you're hitting coal or iron nodes and you'll sometimes get a little iron when hitting normal rocks.

hello ...

if you are looking for the iron head at the right end of the map in the territories of her derketo in the area where there is a lot of water and a vast number of islets made of very high hills, green ... at the base of these islands and all along the beach bordering the bulk of the aquatic area you'll find plenty of deposits of iron ...

and if you are interested in the aquatic area large deposits if I remember correctly gold ... great area with no sand storms ...

otherwise the mountainous area between the volcano and the temple of the frost ... if you like the sand storms in the vicinity of the base coarse of the black hand ( of which there are few deposits ) , the others are near, almost always of spiders that are poisonous and hyenas ... council area of her derketo ... quiet area and just run to get there, and in some stretches, swim
