We will find out tomorrow i guess :)
But i will say this. Dont expect this game to be candy canes and lollipops just because its a new survival game.(This is unrealistic)
If your playing on pvp on launch
I have absolutely no doubt, You will encounter every problem you pretty much just typed about.
That being said, You may be better off finding a sever thats unoffical pvp?
(So you can still pvp, But so its alittle more moderated)
Offical pvp will be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at launch. And thats the way all survival games will be for the rest of this gaming generation.
Thats just the way things are these day.
THAT DOES NOT, mean that you cant find a nice sever on offical and make yourself a home.
It really depends on who you share the sever with.
If your on a sever with a bunch of people who love raiding/sieging and/or griefing in all its glory.
Then its going to happen to you. No doubt.
If your sever is majority people that like to talk and be friendly, Make community bonds and expand expand expand.
Then chances are you will unite as a sever to police it and make it a more freindly experience for anyone that plays there.
All it takes is someone to pathe the way and others to share that same path.
And its not long before your all on the same page.
Everything you just described is everything I hope isn't the case. The world doesn't need another 'open world sandbox PVP F*#KFEST ARENA' where the whole goal is to grief before you are griefed.
Ark, is the pinnacle of this, and I fear that due to it's success and popularity games will continue to follow that recipe, instead of say, the recipe of 7 days to die, where the recipe is more geared towards surviving in a world that assaults you, instead of expecting other players to provide that resistance.
I'm just....done.... with the whole "BUILD A BASE AND ANNIHILATE OTHER PLAYER BASES AND GET YOUR BASE ANNIHILATED LOLOLOL JUST DO IT ALL OVER AND OVER BECAUSE THIS IS SO POPULAR' gameplay.
I have a couple hundred hours in Ark, which I unfortunately believe this is clearly mirrored after, and I have just recently decided that this is not the game play for me.
I hope Conan Exiles breaks that mold, but, hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
I realize I am basically hoping against hope, but, It's hard to tell if there is enough PVE content to play without having the entire game based around forging a base to defend against other player douchebags and having to be a douchebag yourself in order to be successful.
The content/trailers we are provided thus far give inkling to the possibility this may not be the case, but, I have become skeptical and jaded within the 'survival sandbox' genre, which has turned into 'survival PVP grief-fest' genre instead.
In often cases it causes more pvp. Specially when theres rather rare monsters,
World boss spawn timers, etc etc.
That being said, I believe the PvE content in this game will out-match any current survival game on the market, Or atleast anything i've heard about/played..
Because it will be alot more grueling then riding a max level dinosaur (or bringing a inventory full of ammo)
You are going to have to get up close and personal. They've already stated there are monsters which will require multiple people to take down.
This straight away opens up the possibility of people killing other people for these creatures.
They have also mentioned rare items. This once again reinforces the "WE NEED THIS AT ALL COSTS!" mentality. Which furthers PvP once again.
If you do play a offical pvp, I suggest finding group of allies as quick as possible.
Otherwise your start on officals will be hindered by the hordes of people chasing eachother in circles to try and get thier first blood of the game. (Once again this is mostly isolated to offical pvp severs and you most likely wouldnt see it on unofficals, Depending on the hosts outlook.)
I do agree with some of your points, That its sad that it is the common-day "Normal" of the survival genre. I do agree with that. A quick fix to that is, Playing hardcore mode.
Alot more risky. Not just for you, But for everyone.
Which leads to less cluster kills and more organizational skills/tactics.
(Because if you die, Your dead and lose all progress = Less people taking stupid risks for no reason, Chasing a naked player for no loot comes to mind)
Edit: Typos, Plus good luck on whatever you deicide :)
I still think Conan is going to be a amazing game, But i wouldnt expect anything truly different from those that share the same survival genre as it.
(Dont expect the game to be any better community wise then the games that share the same tag as CE. (Survival)
Edit, Edit: Just to clarify, This game will be alot different in its foundation/core mechanics.
But people are people. Where-ever you go they will remain the same. Even if the "sky" doesnt, type thing (Sky being the game/genre in this metaphor)
