Example: 200 hp, with 20 corruption your new max hp is 180.
You gain it from certain "scary" areas, When i say scary i generally mean something has happened here, Weither its a past battle of exiles, graves everywhere.
Or a ominus statue with red glowing eyes.
Basically its just a "Threat" rating really. If theres corruption somewhere you can assume theres something there. Lore/Hard monsters/creepy stuff
You can get rid of corruption by using dancer thralls to enterain you and make you look on the bright side of life :) They dance you happy basically.
(There may be other methods to lower corruption, but this is all i'm aware of so far)
Edit: Where you gain corruption or why you gain it, Remains to be seen. We just know its a dark effect lingering on the area type thing.
Judging by the amount of sever settings they have/plan to have,
I'd say its a pretty high possiblity.
Havent heard anything concrete about it myself though.
If it isnt in game at EA launch, I'm sure it will be shortly after,
Specially if enough people want it, They will consider adding it for sever hosts to play with.
I'm going to assume its death. (as you would have no hp left)
Its either that, Or you cant die from corruption, and you will be left with 1/??? hp/stam.
Also Corruption lasts through death. So dont think you can cheat your way out by dying ;)
Its not that easy ;D
Edit: it couldnt be death, Unless if you die by corruption itself, Its removed.
Otherwise you would die forever :D
So we must be left with 1/??? hp/stam.
Its no different really to having say a fatugue stat added or death penalty in some mmo's. There are ways to remove it and I think it just adds another element to the game which will enhance it further.
Means you interact with your thralls in another way and really feel like you're part of the world.
I may be wrong and it may turn out to be really annoying but let's reserve judgement until we've experienced it I say
Another bad part is that griefers will surely wait outside for people who have been down there with severely gimped stats when they come out making them easy prey.
Im all up for corruption, but it could be a whole other effect than draining health and stamina.
Do people want to have a time trial dungeon running feeling hanging over them when exploring new areas ? I sure dont.
When you put out like that, yeah I suppose it could turn into a massive pain. It might be capped though to a certain point and once you've leveled up and your health and stamina are higher, you'll get more time to explore.
As I said, reserve judgement until we've experienced it, I think its the only way to know of its gonna be a bad thing or not
If im a griefer i sure as hell would love easy kills when someone else has been down there clearing all the good stuff for me so i can just onehit them when they come out.
What i mean is, there should be a faster counter of corruption for example for players who have been first aggressors and eventually killed another player in the dungeon thus making that actually trigger corruption?
I mean who get corrupted just for being in a dungeon ? Some people love scary places and exploring, so i honstely believe that if you murder someone inside a dungeon especially this would be when corruption starts to tick.
This is my little 2 cents of what would be a reasonable addition to the corruption. At least make the corruption counter make a bit sense, if you kill someone inside a dungeon that is sure a vile and corrupted action and certainly makes more sense to make the corruption meter start ticking right ?
