Team Fortress 2
up/down with mouse?
is it possible, if not, why not? I find it disorienting when playing with the rift that I have to move my head up/down to see up/down. optimally I would like the mouse to control aim just like normal and the orientation control from the rift to just offset that. otherwise I get the feeling that I'm back playing dos doom and that's not optimal at all.

Try one of the other aim modes:

vr_moveaim_mode: options for controlling movement and aim. Modes 0 through 4 are all interesting to try. 5 and above are probably not.
0: aiming and steering with your face, the mouse just rotates your "hips". This is a good mode for use with a control pad.
1: aiming with your face, steering only with the mouse. This mode may be buggy and "drift" after a while.
2, 3, 4: slightly different versions of aiming with the mouse within a "keyhole" in your view. 3 is the default that TF2 ships with.
5, 6, 7: assorted other experiments.

I didn't find what I was looking for in the vr options. to re-iterate, what I want is aiming and steering with the mouse, as If I was playing a regular fps. I want the point of view to be locked to the mouse. moving the head would also move the aim/steering. otherwise it feels like controlling a mech. having both tied to the mouse and the head movements as well also allows adjusting fro drift on the fly. I didn't get this effect with zero keyholes. aiming and looking up and down with neck sucks big time.
This is exactly what I am looking for. Despite mode 0 being intended for a gamepad, it would be optimum for me for mouse if it also included up/down.
