Kritzkrieg + Engineer = ???

So I've read from wiki that if an Engineer uses a crit canteen, his weapons get crit and his sentry gun triples its fire rate for that brief 5 seconds, and the uber canteen would cause the sentry to be invulnerable. Of course no Engineer would really try it because a good one would prefer the Build upgrade one.

However, can we imitate that effect with the Medic?
If I give an Engineer uber/krit, would the sentry gun benefit from it as well?
Same question goes for the share canteen upgrade.

It would be an interesting last resort for a Medic if those takes effect.

Oh yeah, I noticed that. Woah, if a medic can krit an engie and trippling the fire rate of the sentry AND being buffed by a soldier for constant minicrit. How can you say no? Sounds amazing on paper.

Krit canteen on engie doesn't give crit for the sentry, it triples the fire rate. I mean that combined with soldier's minicrit buff, 3x minicrit, that's better than a plain critical sentry gun, if that exists.

no the kritz might effect just the weapon you have out

That's what I always thought it did but have been hearing more and more about it increasing the Sentry firing speed. I would assume a Kritzkrieg only crits the weapon but a Kritz canteen doubles the sentry firing rate per wiki with no mention of what weapon is needed.

"In Mann vs. Machine mode, Sentry Guns can gain benefits from certain Power Up Canteens their owners use. An Über Canteen will form a Wrangler-esque shield around the Sentry Gun, protecting it from attacks. A Kritz Canteen will double the Sentry Gun's firing rate."

The Kritzkrieg does not make the Sentry deal critical hits, because a Sentry is a building, and buildings cannot deal or take critical hit damage. The Crit canteen however, when applied to the Engineer, increases it's fire rate to double the regular rate (thereby increasing it's damage output), as a work-around to the fact that buildings cannot deal full criticals. However, Sentries can deal mini-crit damage, if the Engineer is standing near a deployed Buff Banner, even if the Sentry is on the other side of the map, or the target the Sentry is shooting at, is covered in Jarate.

A Kritz would only make the current weapon the player has out, deal critical hits, and because a Wrangler does not deal any damage itself (the Sentry does), Kritzing a Wrangled Engineer will have no effect.

wrangler + kritz canteen can be a deadly combo, both double the firing rate so one could use them to boost the firing rate to 4x
if only there was an ammo capacity on buildings upgrade (more ammo in sentry & metal in dispensers) because a fire rate that high eats though your bullets
Edit: ok, did some testing, giving me following times before you're out of bullets
default: x2-18s x4-9s
+10%: ~16s 9s
+20%: both deplete in 9 seconds
so using them both is a waste of credits unless its still default
Edit 2: it seems the upgrades are misbehaving, doubled 20% should result in 14s & 30% should give us about 12 seconds

Definition of buff banner: Provides an offensive buff that causes NEAR BY TEAM member to do mini-crits.

And another quote from WIKI: "Though players only receive the buff while positioned within the buff radius, the source or sources of their damage need not be within the radius, so traveling rockets, pre-laid stickybombs, Sentry Guns, and afterburn will deal mini-crit damage as long as their creator is buffed when the damage is actually dealt."

Buff simply applies mini crits on those who are somehow near soldier.


Wrangler is not a weapon, it's only a utility/gadget to help you wrangle a sentry on long distance. Kritz or Kritzkreig only affects on weapons.
