Is "Bank on it" even possible?

I've been playing as sniper in MVM for the last couple of days trying to get the "Bank on it" achievement. I always politely ask my team mates not to pick up the red money packs, but no one seems to take notice.

I've had the robots drop $500+ legitimately so I figured I'd try a custom wave. I set the money for the wave to over $500, and still didn't unlock the achievement.

Has anyone managed to unlock this in a public game and is it possible to get achievements in custom waves?

EDIT - If you're having problems with this achievement, try playing on Mannhattan as it unlocked on that map for me.

I've gotten it, usually it just happens if you play a decent sniper

It's possible.

Make sure you don't accidentally pick up the green cash, that happened to me twice.
I don't think it counts against you if your own team picks it up, that would be silly.
So if a lone scout accidentaly slips through your team's defenses, try to avoid him if he gets killed by a sentry/demo/something, you might pick his dropped money up.

Bugged for me. Had thousands of cash from headshots several times, without anyone picking up the money (bad teams on broken parts), no achievement. No doubt something silly stopping it triggering, can't guess at what though.

Seen other people get it just from changing from scout to sniper on the final wave of 2 cities games.

God knows how many time I let the busters destroy my sentry, then rebuild it with canteens just to get the achievement... and one day, bam, I just get the achievement.
Same thing with Rocket Specialist achievement where you have to do some thing, don't know what, it popped up days later.

I think you may be right. I made another custom wave using the same settings as before, but on Mannhattan. I got the achievement after my second headshot.

for one I know i got mine during Babarian Botbash.

When MvM first came out, I was trying to get a few achievements to work. None of them triggered, then around a week later they all came up at once when I was playing on 2Fort.
Something is definitely delaying or stopping some achievements from triggering, i'm unsure what however.

i've tried it on decoy and coaltown 5-10 times, but earned on mannhattan

It's bugged. I don't have it yet I've met the requirements many times, some of those screencapped.

Which is why videos>screencaps>achievements, who knows what else is bugged. Maybe 1,000,000 cash and robot achievements are bugged too and don't count correctly, I don't know.

It's not uncommon for the 1,000,000 kills to be bugged or randomly reset - mine has done it at least twice and i know others who have had the same thing - so it's likely the cash one does the same for some people too.

Pretty sure bank on it has to be done on one of the 2 cities maps. 'Did' it several times on expert and mecha missions and it never triggered, pop on a 2 cities mission and get it right away.

Something about both 2 cities maps makes my aim ♥♥♥♥. I can get out of a 170k+ bigrock game and then do 1/4 the damage of the heavy in 2 cities.

Yea, it seems to only work on Two Cities. Every time someone brings it up, I tell them to head up to the catwalk on Metro and plink away. Wave 2 and 6 are usually good for triggering that achievement.
