It has it uses though.
The answer is yes, by the way.
- Bug: You can cause a resonance cascade, causing multiple explosive headshots at once, thus dealing massive damage
- Bug: You can trigger an explosive headshot on a ubered/invicible target.
IMO Pyro is a better DPS class but that's just me.
Just because he isn't the best at single targets, doesn't mean what he does is anything to sneeze at. Single target damage is important when you are the team's most reliable person to kill the giant meds and it makes a difference when the team heavily leans on you for all bot damage, not just crowds. I think it shines in places like boneshaker wave 1, broken parts wave 5. disintegration wave 1 and mannslaughter wave 1.
I personally don't like switching out rifles mid mission, I would do it for wave 1 though because it's similar to how I played even before refund (buy back upgrades).
Pyro has his limitations. Some missions definitely favour him damage wise if the team is cooperative, but he lacks range and cannot deal with medics cleanly. They shine in different areas.
