New MVM update
Recently, there was an update to mvm that made it so you can only view the upgrades of people on your party or friends list.
I think this is really bad, since you could use it to help new players choose good upgrades, and allowed to more easily see what kind of playstyle they were going for. Also handy to see if they had slowdown on their milk/jarate to know how much you should focus giant scouts.
Now, if a new player chooses bad upgrades, the other players won't be able to indicate to him why he is doing so little damage as easily.
I know why they did this, but it seems to be the upsides of seeing a player's upgrades is worth more than the downsides.

But, can you still inspect the player's weapons in the bottom-right panel?
The wording on the patch notes does not give many details. I think you can, but not see the upgrades.

who the hell asked for this

When you inspect someone while in spectate mode (i.e while you're dead) it shows their weapons in the bottom-right with their attributes (like +80% dmg, etc)

Idk if it still works like that but if so that'd be hilarious

Wait, yeah, you could do that... And it would be so hilarious if Valve failed to do the only thing they have tried to do in mvm in this year

so are they just encouraging people to gauge skill based on tour count?

because inspecting upgrades was the most reliable way to gauge skill up to now

if that's what it's gonna come to, now i have even less of a reason to touch mannup
Valve making a bad change for MvM? What a shocker.

Upon inspecting someone who isnt on said lists justs shows "Invalid Inspect Target."

Not like we need to inspect people to know they have ♥♥♥♥ upgrades.
Whats next? Are they going to remove the scoreboard?
Thenimas 22 czerwca 2021 o 10:39
there's gauging skill based of weapons still but that has it's own issues

for example, you inspect a scout and he has crit-a-cola

either he's completely clueless or he's a really good damage scout

the only way to guarantee your scout is decent is if they have mad milk, since very few bad scouts use it, so over time this is just gonna encourage more meta weapon use since that's the only baselike we have to go off of, and anyone who uses non-meta weapons is gonna be seen as bad

again i ask, who the ♥♥♥♥ asked for this, i genuinely want to know

Another thing is you are not going to be able to differentiate a bad damage scout who is at least trying or a support scout, and if you should adjust your strategy accordingly or advice him on getting upgrades for his gun.

Probably the little babys crying that they got told they suck at the game.

"if you can't see upgrades or gas passer of other people you won't complain about it!"
"oh woooow! what a gread idea potted plant"
In fact, this change fits the previous ideas of solving problems (like muting all new players in order to deal with bots in casual) so well.

But what do you think of the new cosmetics and a whopping SIX unusual effects?

Anyway do you now believe us that valve would rather band aid the problem that do something meaningful? The infinite refund thingy was definitely not made with balance or fun in mind... You liked it because it improved pubs, but how about this?
