You might know how stock cloakin device works but C&D´s meter decrease when spy is moving while cloaked and increase when staying still, so he can actually be forever invicible, of course he can´t kill anyone while cloaked.
Dead Ringer is pretty tricky. You can´t cloak normal way, but when you get hurt while Dead Ringer is active, you will become invisible immediatelly and leave fake corpse, seems like you´re dead, but you´re not. Also you get 90% less damage while using cloaked so you can survive even head shots or backstabs (I read somewhere you can even survive a train). But remember, when cloak meter depletes completely or manually decloakes, here will be a loud sound so it will be easily noticed. If spy is disguised as own team member (yes, spies can do that) they leave fake body which looks like someone else as spy, so you dont even know you have hurt a spy!!!
The lowest health class that is constantly seen on the front lines is the pyro. 175 health. In order to die convincingly you still need to sacrifice most, if not nearly all, of your healthbar. Especially if an enemy spy/solemn vow medic was seeing your EXACT simulated health at the time of the kill. The easiest way to fake a friendly death is allowing yourself to be "headshot" while disguised as a heavy that hasn't yet reached the front lines, but this usually means not reaching your target and/or a safe place to decloak before it runs out. I've experimented with it, it usually isn't as useful as the other two watches unless you're playing as Dr. Enforcicle, which isn't really like playing a "spy" at all. Anyways, If this conversation is continued, we should do it in a different thread, since we answered the poster's questions about spying already.
