Team Fortress 2
Two accounts at once?
Can you sandbox two accounts on one computer without a penalty sans no item drops? I'd like to have my alternate snap some photos of my loadout, but I don't want to risk a VAC ban or anything. Anyone know what happens nowadays if you run two instances of TF2 on one computer?

You would have to run it in a Virtual Box or Sandboxie (something to make a "virtual" copy of your computer) and run both instances. No you will not get VAC banned for it and can play TF2 as normal, all you are doing is running two instances of the game in seperate "computers". As for item drops (I assume you are asking for idling purpoes) as long as you make sure to accept your item drops when you get them you will keep getting more just like normal.

Ahh, see I thought they made it so you do not get drops if you had 2 copies running.

Alrighty, thanks!

Sure, but don't be surprised if you get Trade Banned for it...

You can't get trade banned for having alts, only for things such as scamming others/knowingly buying stolen items.

Incorrect...

You are not allowed to run multiple instances of TF2 at once, and using Sandboxie (or any external program for that matter) to do so could get you VAC Banned.

I don't see anything about being trade banned in that link you posted

No where does it say you can be banned for using something like Sandboxie for running multiple instances of TF2. You WILL be banned if you use something to bypass their idling block, for example something that mimics the TF2 client and autoclicks drops.

What is the definition of “actively playing” Team Fortress 2?

From an item drop perspective, a player is considered to be actively playing if they meet all of the following criteria:

> Is connected to a VAC secured server.
> Is responding to in-game drop notifications while not utilizing external programs to do so.
> Is running only one instance of the game.
> Is not in textmode.
> A player who meets all of those criteria is earning time towards random item drops (subject to the weekly cap).

you will not be banned for just idling. You may be banned if you use external programs to circumvent idle detection.

Sandboxie is an external program used to run multiple instances of the game, which is against the rules.

Ah, seems I overlooked that part. Thank you.

Wouldn't that refer to running more than 1 instance of the same account. If you can run separate accounts on separate computers how is that any different than running a separate account in a virtual box?
