Does the "Ban Hammer" actually work?

If you're a REAL TF2 fan you probably know already that opening up Gabe "Rabscuttle" Newell's TF2 backback only displays one item; a "Ban Hammer" that claims to ban whomever it kills in a game of TF2.

Wikipedia (which, aside from "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," is the ultimate repository of all wisdom and knowledge) claims that an in-game model of the hammer exists. The question is, does it work?

I don't know where Wikipedia got the idea that the Ban Hammer has a model in-game since, as far as I know, the creator of tf2items.com only created it as a joke for when you view Gabe's backpack. No other backpack viewing site had it and you will note that tf2items shows the Ban Hammer despite Gabe's profile being private.

So, no, it doesn't work; it's not real.
