Team Fortress 2
Aiming tips?
Hey, I've played a lot of FPS games and TF2 is one of them, but there is 1 thing that I'm always bad at.

Aiming

In most of the games, I use rifles/sub machine guns since I don't have to land every shot
and in TF2, I play classes with explosive projectiles or who have a lot of ammo,
but I suck at Scout, Sniper, and Spy with ambassador.

I really want to better at these classes, or aiming in general.
I tried lowering my sensitivity but it doesn't help a lot...
Anyone have some tips?

Try downloading tr_walkway, it's a map where bots keep spawning and walk across the map. You can go a perches, go down with them, etc. Its great to practice your aim on them, just keep moving while shooting to really improve your aim. It helped me get better, good luck!
All your needs can be solved on tr_walkway http://tf2.gamebanana.com/maps/107794 , practice against bots then up it every once in a while by like making them strafe or move faster or have shorter strafe, etc. Spend a couple hours there, try at least an hour a week on top of regular playing if you really want to improve. If you've got that all down then your aim should be good enough to do well in matches.

Also, you find it easier to aim with demoman and soldier? I get the splash damage thing but still, if you can land direct hits with them well but not with the bullet based aimers I'd just stick with demo and soldier. They should be what's harder to aim with.

Don't forget that reducing the size of your crosshairs can be a big aid, it forces you to look where you are aiming.

uh, how do you download the map and use it?
download it and put the .bsp into your steam/steamapps/common/team fortress 2/tf/maps/ folder, then just press the plus on the main menu and select that map to play on it.

this walkway thing didn't help me much because you build a bad habit of knowing where and what the bots will do, for example you set the bots to jump, so in your head you know they're going to jump in a split second, so you anticipate the aim a few distance above their head. In a real game, you have to rely on your instinct, anticipation, surroundings and psychology to GUESS whether the enemy is likely to press A or D. I get chain dominations playing against my skilled friends but suck horribly in a 2fort server with average players for example.

Lowering your sensivity can help. your mouse won't move that much if you do, so you'll aim better. It works for me, may just be placebo effect through.

Setting whatever thing to random will help, and it is of course by no means a replacement, just a faster start and way to get good muscle memory with the game and stuff.

For me, the best way to do things is to use tr_walkway and set everything to random.

You're good at reading datestamps.

Since this was necroed, I'd might as well drop in some updates info. The Plus sign to make a server isn't there anymore.

You have to open the console and type in "map tr_walkway" (without quotes).

Pakaku has predicted your arrival.

Also aim behind the character models, the hitboxes don't catch up immediately.

Aim your cursor on the enemy and shoot with hitscan. Its not hard.
Or if you're using projectiles, move the crosshair further from the target in the direction they are going. its not hard.
