Pyro Gender Debate
For as long as there's been TF2, there's been the debate and speculation over the pyro's gender. The fact that his face is never seen, and numerous tidbits from Valve have lead some to believe the pyro is female. Now, this myth has had a lot of people deceived, and it will most likely persist for as long as people play TF2, as I doubt Valve will ever conclusively reveal the pyro's gender. However, anybody who can spot a joke can tell that the pyro is indeed a man, and not a woman.
The evidence favours this conclusion. There is almost no real evidence to suggest the pyro is anything other than male, which is what we would naturally assume. Yes, we never get to see his face (although concept art of the pyro unmasked depicts him as male), but this is no reason to assume he's a woman. Then there's the flowery purse in the pyro's locker, the catalyst of the speculation, cunningly planted by Valve. On the subject of the purse remember that the pyro is insane and delusional. We know that from Meet The Pyro. He probably doesn't even understand what the purse is. All the rest of the evidence has been unashamedly inserted. The developers referring to the pyro as "she", that loading screen tip that alternated between calling the pyro "him" and "her", the subtitles in MTP- "HE'S not here is SHE?", etc., etc.

But all this is transparent. We can clearly see that this is all a big joke. Valve is toying with the community, deliberately sparking this theory for everyone's amusement. But those of us who can spot this joke know the truth. The pyro is indeed a man. Here's why:

-he has a distinctly male voice, and a male voice actor. Gas masks can muffle the voice (as his does), but they cannot distort them enough to deepen a woman's voice into sounding like a man's. Just listen to his guttural chuckle.
-he has a male body shape. Flame retardent suits are not thickly insulated enough to make a woman look like a man.
-the pyro has no discernible breasts.
-the pyro is almost always referred to as "he". He is only ever called "she" when Valve is dropping hints.

Obviously none of this is 100% conclusive. In rare cases, women have very flat chest, speak with unusually deep voices, and or have masculine body shapes, but this is rare, and if there were a female team member in TF2, don't you think everyone would want her to be classically attractive, and not some mannish freak.
So, the joke's been fun. The speculation has been rife, but it's time to accept the pyro for what he is. A man.

Please let me know your opinion on this subject. Do you agree with me, or do you think the evidence points the other way?

This guy practically proved he was a (gay) male. The only people who will think pyro is a woman after watching this is a pervert or at least pretty damn close to being one. But of course, it is just a theory. A game theory. Thanks for watching. (Lol, couldn't resist that last part.)

I always just used the male voice actor as proof of his gender.

The voice actor who plays as bart from The Simpsons is a woman.

I do wonder why none of the playable characters are female though. It would be cool to have the option to switch to female characters, though it would require lots of voice acting and modeling.

... why? Couldn't she just keep the suit on and keep on burning things?

In the end of it all, whatever gender the Pyro is, Valve isn't likely to remove the mask or any part of the suit. The Pyro plays the same, looks the same, and acts the same. Calling it male or female doesn't matter because it won't change anything. It could be man, it could be woman, but it's still Pyro.

The joke isn't that Pyro is a man with hints that he's a woman, the joke is that we'll never know for sure which one it is.

look at his other videos, particularly the one about the 'companion cubes secret' anyone that knows anything about portal can punch holes in his 'theory' but because he uses big words everyone accepts his claims about pyro as fact?
