Why is that hat even worth 8 keys it makes no sense to me.

You can non longer obtain a bills hat, you can't craft it or get it from drops. So those 164 thousand bills are the only ones left, L4D 2 was a very popular game so tonnes of people who don't play tf2 have it in their inventory. So essentially there is thousands of them sitting in dead accounts. Other factors including it's all class, paintable and generally looks nice.

The ellis cap can still be obtained by buying l4d2.

Batter's Helmet can't be obtained anymore either and is more rare. Should we price it at 15 keys?

Different, you might as well ask why a max or earbuds are expensive too, they are early promos before the gold rush on items. Plus they look good beyond the issue of them being a default higher end currency in tf2.

Plus almost no one wears the batters helm.. Being rare alone doesn't 'mean much. Paper money isn't "rare", i'm sure everyone has some but its worth something.

Technically the Batter's Helmet and all of the other retired hats are still obtainable by crates that have them listed as their contents, but it's still rather odd that it's worth less than the Bill's. I suppose that it is because the Batter's Helm used to be easier to obtain, though I would expect at least a minor price raise.

Its not really odd, the bills cap has always been valuable/desirable, the batters helm was a craft hat for the longest time, and even retiring it hasn't changed the fact that most people can't be bothered to wear it. The retired hat bubble was funny, because people forgot people would eventually remember they didn't care about those hats...

People want Bill's Hat. Not a lot of people want Batter's Helmet.

Bill's Hat is for every class. Batter's Helmet is only for Scout.
