Team Fortress 2
Help! Monitor going black when playing TF2
Okay, so yesterday, I played TF2 and after a few minutes I started playing, the monitor slowly turned black ( it took about 2~3 seconds to go black)
Today, I started playing and the same thing happened again. After about 5~10 minutes of playing, the monitor slowly goes black, but for a few seconds after the screen goes black, I can hear the noise coming from TF2 and then I can't hear anything. Then, after a few minutes, the computer just shuts down.
The thing is, this is only happening when I'm playing TF2. When I'm doing stuff on internet, it doesn't happen.
By the way, I own a laptop, not a computer, so it's impossible to get a new monitor (I think) unless there is a way that I don't know how to.

Also, when I turn on the computer again in like error fix mode, (I use Korean, so I'm trying to translate it as best as I can) it says "Fixing disk error. It may take more than an hour."

Anyone got a solution? :(

I am not a computer expert, so I never mess with my computer

Solved by restoring my computer to a week ago :D

Do you overclock? Overclocking too much could be the problem.

Are you running your CPU or GPU faster than it's nominal clock speed?

disk error is a hard drive problem ive seen it many times. i usually take it as a warning to back up all my stuff because the drive in question is going to be dead in a month or two.

I don't even know what CPU or GPU is, so there is no way of me messing with that kind of stuff

a good place for you to start would be to check your hardwares temperatures and make sure nothing is overheating this works good and its free

I've had this problem before it's your graphics card. First update all your drivers to see if thats the problem. If not check the temperatures, if you notice it is higher than normal open your desktop case and see if theres any dust on it. I gave my graphics card a dust, it stop overheating and thus the problem stopped.

Depending on how powerful your gpu is, it should have a idle temperature of 30-45. Any higher in non gaming or intensive scenarios means you have a problem..

I have no idea how to check the temperature. Also, I meant laptop, not desktop

Usually you can find this info in the system BIOS.

Does the computer completely lose power or does it just restart? Did you see any blue screens just before it shut down? Did you see any error messages?

I'm almost certain this is graphics card related. Consider updating your drivers, or possibly re installing them.

Heres an enormous thread with people that have the same issue. Maybe you can find an answer.

Is that Fahrenheit or Celcius, because I pretty sure 102 celcius means yoru cpu is burning alive. 102 F seems pretty normal however.

Check if your drivers are updated. If that doesn't fix it then I'm stumped

Huh...it does say 103 C (217 F)
I've been playing/using this laptop like this for over an year or so...
Also, that's the video I use already to check if my drivers are up to date and it is...
