EDIT:
Installed it, and it looks like it's working so far, but I tried a similar mod a couple days ago and it didn't work (and I now have the vanilla background which suggests that the Full Moon thing is finally over), so I'll have to wait another month to find out if I need to rage further on this or not. In any case, thank you for the link and the suggestion. I can at least enjoy TF2 again now. :)

I was beginning to worry that Valve might make some stupid move like that. I've tried several menu replacement mods and nothing has worked so far... ticks me off to no end. Like I said though, I'll try the one Sonju mentioned and see if it works.
