That being said, you really want to stay out of sight until you get a Disguise; even then, you still want to stay away from prying eyes even more than normal, but backstabbing multiple players in a row becomes easier. This is especially the case when a player has just checked another, in case he was a Spy, and has less reason to shoot a Rocket at your feet; this is especially true if their situation is dire.
Once you get a Disguise it becomes much more simple to backstab players, due to how there's a lack of a backstab sound, which means that players aren't as alerted as they generally are; many of the same tactics a good Spy will use apply to this weapon, but it has some nuances. Such as ditching a 'slow' Disguise to catch up to a faster class, however you lose some possible advantages, such as manually choosing your Disguise to momentarily fool others.
Essentially, you need to lightly modify your playstyle to take advantage of what Your Eternal Reward offers, while avoiding certain pitfalls it entails.
