unlocks are supposed to be sidegrades at best... of course someone who's good with stock should be able to beat someone with unlocks
"Overpowered" in TF2 terms generally refers to the stock weapons as a base. It assumes that stock is the all-around best. So your statement doesn't really make sense.
No way they can be called OP\UP
I'm waiting for an argument to appear from this statement regarding the stock melee weapons. Namely the shovel or fireaxe. (I don't think they're UP at all)
While full stock Soldier, Medic, Pyro or Heavy definitely are viable, that doesn't change the fact that their stock melee weapons are about as essential for fighting as your pinky toe is for walking.
Granting them some extra utility wouldn't be a step in the wrong direction, in my opinion
