What dxlevel are you playing on? You can check by going to your video settings.

Either way if you're like me you probably want mat_specular set to 0.

I'll need screenshots to really be sure that's what you may want.

I think it's the dx level. There's a 80 and 90 something versions with 80 being older and I think 95 being newer but you just have to change the autos tart options. I might be wrong but its something like -dxlevelxx with xx being 80 90 or 95, so basically type -dxlevelxx in the startup options launch tf2 then exit tf2 then remove -dxlevelxx from the launch options and start up tf2 again. I would recommend searching another auto exec graphic configure like cris's config, they come in different versions so every different one has different dxlevels. It could also be just the phong that's the vanilla if you search no phong pack you can find textures that remove the shininess in a lot of stuff.

Regarding -dxlevel (Mine is at 90 and my video card does not support 81 and below as I get stuttering) Just to give you an idea.

Type "mat_dxlevel 90" in console and it should be fixed worked for me :)

You could also try no phong/no rimlight mods. Dunno if that's applicable here, though.

My TF2 once looked like that on my previous PC, which I don't have anymore. I liked how it looked. I wonder, do you have any idea how I can make it look like this again?

try mat_specular 1\0

!mat_phong 0 will do the trick
I wonder why a max FPS script would make models shiny

Still can't make it as shiny as this guy's pictures, but it's how my TF2 used to look, and I liked it :c.

I just installed Broeselhud Blue and it made my stuff a bit shinier. I like it...subtle stuff.
Maybe it's for more visibility.
