TF2 Sound Files?
I have a few sound files on the TF2 sounds folder I use a bit, so I went to look where it was. Usually, the sound files would be located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\[Namehere]\Team Fortress 2\tf\sound, however now it's located in the common section of steamapps, and all the sounds are within a cache. Is there a reason it's there, and how can I reach the sound files?

Thanks!

Having the stock sound files in the filesystem directory isn't/wasn't normal.
You should/have had three GCF files to open, with two of them containing sounds.
You open/would open these with GCFscape.

Meanwhile, in the modern age...
You should have a bunch of VPK files now in your tf folder. If Portal 2 taught me anything, it's that you need to open the game_thingy_dir.vpk, not the numerous game_thingy_###.vpk files.
Again, GCFscape.

If you want to make mods or change the sounds around, you have to make a folder in the custom folder, then make folders inside of that one, then add your files, etc.
Bah.

If you want the sounds, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf to find the vpk sound files. use the program GCFscape. The user Orange BitFlip has more information on this.
