High ping for no reason

[Very confusing Name]

On Saturday (27th) for no reason i can work out, my ping changed from being a reliable 20-40 to 100+, even though i'm the only person who uses the internet and i play other multi-player games with a low ping.

My PC specs are:

Intel i7 2.30GHz
12.0 GB ram
nvidia geforce gtx 660m- 2 GB ram
64 bit windows 7

I have tried a few different local servers with the same result.

could be that your provider has some problems down the line. you could do a tracert on the server ip and see where the most latency occurs, and find out if it's on your end or your provider's end.

Don't sweat about it. I have a friend who has a very powerful computer and his ping occasionally fluctuates from a reliable 20 to an awful 400+

Reasons for these fluctuations can range from dodgy providers to someone else hogging your tinternets.

I find that my ping goes up, if more people are using the internet. Try turning off things in your house that eats up internet..

I.E. Iphones, Ipods, Ipads, other computers..

Also if someone in your family is downloading stuff on a different computer that can help contributing to your ping going up

Also try restarting your router, it might just need a refresh.

Without knowing what type of internet connection you have, all I can really say is to go for a hardwire connection instead of Wi-Fi.
If you have cable internet, it could be that there is high traffic volume in your neighborhood for some reason.
If you have DSL, go blame the phone company. :p

I got the exact same problem and it started yesterday (30 august). The day before i was playing with lovely ping and then yesterday it spikes up to 250+ on all servers including the ones I used to play on normally. This happens only in my Team Fortress 2 and my Counter-strike games.

My tf2 went back to normal after an update. Try to verify the integrity of the game cache, although it didn't work for me its worth the try.

my ping is like 50 - 500 per day, it's sad i know.

First my game just wouldn’t connect to servers the. I verified integrity of game cache and I could join but now my ping is 800-900

i got 30-80 ping and then it goes up to 110+ yesterday on my tf2 servers but my other games has low pings.

read the title , High ping for no reason that is why I added both, High ping is a no-brainier, just find a server with a low ping duh.

Every Server has high ping for me, nobody seems to be downloading or watching some youtube videos. I tried playing other games and my ping was different, but it was 30-50 unlike tf2 smh.
