At this point the game is in maintenance mode, and it's in the best state it's been in for the last 5-6 years. Not that that's saying much. People should be used to the neglect by now.
If you don't like it, stop spending money on the game.
Genuinely curious what is your reasoning on this, I hope you reply.
Thanks. https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199506256720/inventory/#440_2_13066384590
Most of the time valve just hands the legacy/updates of their games over to the communities through making modding more accessible or using them as sweatshop workers for more tf2 cosmetics or CS2 weapon skins
just embrace that valve is like the rest of the big wig game companies out there and just enjoy playing their games despite that instead of thinking they have genuine care for all their properties and things will be fine.
The fact that Valve couldn't care less about the massive cheating/botting problem for that long time makes it even worse than other AAA companies however. I'd go so far as to say that their neglect is worse than even Battlestate's incompetence towards EFT cheaters.
I haven't paid a penny to TF2 in months, and I genuinely feel disdain for youtubers who continue to show off unboxings.
CS2 isn't in a good condition either, and some of the things they've done feel very similar to what has happened in TF2. Removing of content, breaking matchmaking, facilitating botting behaviour with their untested armory pass ♥♥♥♥ and a lack of meaningful content.
All I respect Valve for at this point is Steam, a really damn good storefront and developer supporter (workshop integration, achievements/market inclusion). The rest of their endeavors either come from the great old past, or are generally poor actions in general.
Their neglect for games is purely out of a sense of money making, they leave their games to rot with micro transaction systems so they can just rake in easy low effort money because many of their pvp shooter IPs all have gambling economies that have to funnel money into valve before being able to use a 3rd party site to take your end of the money
CS2 is a perfect example of what neglect out of greed does to the community as a whole, CS is filled to the brim with shady gambling organizations that border on criminal enterprises that all in some way have enough funding and presence to sponsor big name YouTubers/ streamers in CS aswell as esports teams and events. The cracks are slowly getting bigger too with the coffeezilla investigation showing valve Allegedly doesn't like being fully honest when talking about numbers with the csgo gambling market too.
TF2 has trade cabals and similar groups that are usually smaller groups from the csgo gambling market constantly messing with the in game economy netting themselves and especially valve some decent profit
In both scenarios valve has actively ignored the damage their neglect is doing to two of their big pvp game communities purely out of farming constant easy money while they funnel their skilled manpower into churning out their next big tech demo game for the source 2 engine.
Granted it's not a massive amount of cash compared to actual sales of valve games and the existence of the steam game service as a whole, but every company will want to keep a get rich quick scheme as long as it's easy to keep going and hard to get called out for doing
TF2 still has a very strong influence on YouTube. TF2 videos earn millions of views and are essentially one of the forefathers of internet culture. It even has the cartoony style that a lot of newer games have (Valorant, Fortnite, Marvel rivals, etc.). I bet even a lot of veterans who left the game would return if they tried a bit more. It still has that potential to become bigger imo, problem is valve isn't doing much. They just add garbage workshop slop.
