did they shut down tf2 source 2?

It will be just like every other community project where they obey the DMCA for a couple months, say "well VALVe isn't doing anything, let's get back to work!" and then get back to work. This literally doesn't mean anything.

As far as I understood TF2С was closed, as for me, the transition to a new engine is real. It was similar with CS:GO when the fans did something like that.

Devs said the project was practically dead anyway due to some s&box redesigns. If VALVe did something or didn't do anything the project wouldve died anyway. They were also commiting copyright infringement, which isnt a serious crime, but a crime none the less. It's probably a new/dysfunctional legal team, nothing to worry about and everyone is blowing it out of proportion.

The reason why TF2: Source 2 project got DMCA'd because they used Team Fortress 2 and S&Box (Basically Source 2 assets) without permission.

It's like, you're a youtuber, someone copy pastes your video and makes money out of it.
You have to get permission to use assets.

The real explanation is that S&Box has no license (unlike GMod) to use Valve game assets freely. Valve's assets (TF2 models, textures, etc) were taken and used without permission. Valve is not against modding - they have never allowed you to just take assets and make your own game.

TF2S2 wouldn't have been good anyway, and would never have gained a significant community, or been a realistic replacement for TF2.
