Noob tips regarding items and stuff?
I'm a new player and I've been playing a lot of pyro and heavy. Any weapons I should try to get that are better than the basic versions? I know flare gun for pyro can be good for combos and I've seen a lot of other heavies using the tomislav I think?

Tomislav and Minigun are both good, it's up to your personnal preferences.
Sandvich and Banana are good secondaries, GRU and Holiday Punch are the best melees.

Firstly as a newbie DO NOT TRADE. Its for your own safety as theres lots of scams.
While I advise against trade sites some are safe, but keep in mind they then have complete control of your inventory. You might wake up with it all gone and given to some Chinese account.

That being said, study the TF2 wiki (as much of it as you can absorb)
https://wiki.teamfortress.com

Figure out what items you want, but read the details on how to get them. Usually you can craft them by breaking down other items, crafting intermediate other weapons(that are also quite fun to use) and then finally the thing you actually wanted.
Look for the "blueprints" section(if there is one) on any weapon's detail page.

Once you learn the value of certain items well enough you can try trading. If you are aware of the types of scams then nobody can rip you off, and its the preferred way to get your items, presuming you have something that someone else wants.

The Powerjack and the Homewrecker. That's about it honestly, stock is really good on Pyro but if you really want alternatives I'll have to say the Degreaser and Dragon's Fury (though do note that the Dragon's Fury is a bit harder to use than the Flamethrower. Its airblast also isn't as good), as well as the flaregun of course and the scorch shot.

I would recommend using scrap.tf to snag weapons you want with the scrap you accumulate through duplicates.

For pyro, you have lots of variety:
- First of all, Powerjack is very useful no matter what you go for.
- Scorch shot is quite powerful, but there are alternative secondaries + it may cause enemies to call you annoying.
- Flaregun+degreaser is good; axtinguisher works but requires skill.
- Dragon's Fury is strong
- Backburner + thermal thruster works often.
- Worth remarking that you can get free backburner, flaregun and axtinguisher from achievements, and DF and thermal thruster from contract.

For heavy, just get sandvich from achievement or banana from contract. That's it, you're good to go. GRU can be handy and Tomislav is a decent sidegrade, but you can get them later.

Oh and you have the option to loan a weapon to try it out (can't recall how it's done tho). Also can watch youtubers using various weapons.

Tomislav and sandvich for heavy. The winter gloves for melee are also very good for denying ubers

For pyro I use stock flamethrower, scorch shot or shotgun, and the Homewrecker. Homewrecker can instantly remove sappers, and it comes in handy a lot more than you'd think. After a while of using it, whenever you don't have it equipped and see a building getting sapped, you'll wish you still had it equipped
