it would work in theory but not in practice since the community could never all agree to not purchase anything on steam, and that's ignoring trader mains and gambling addicts who won't even boycott the game anyways
so no, it's not really worth it. you can still do it yourself but you doing it on your own wont change anything
Valve was better when they were the ones making TF2 and not the community feedback and crap. That's the whole reason a lot of terrible weapons and balance changes have come to life. Just look at 2007 TF2, Quite literally the epitome of TF2 balance (except for Sniper which was already OP). I blame both the community and Valve for what happened to TF2, the community for pushing Valve to do stupid changes, and Valve for listening to them.
GRU is actually a viable weapon, why would i use it? It let me reposition myself easily with Heavy. I hate the fact that Comp players had got to say their words about the game balance, Valve should've focused on the majority of TF2 players, which are Casual players. Uncle Dane played somewhat of a role with his stupid videos (and once again, the community listening to some guy just because he has a lot of subscribers).
I don't think reverting MyM and Jungle Inferno would be the solution, it does need changes. From the point of view of a Casual player i'd say Sniper should be the focus because that's around the most controversial thing in TF2 for now, it's not fun, ruins people fun, and annihilate all chances of having fun for new players dying to something they don't even know how to counter, which is essentially uncounterable. Sniper needs a nerf in my opinion for Casual TF2 gameplay to be the most fun it could be (No bots + No sniper/sniper rework/sniper nerf = Happiness)
Then we would start fixing the rest of the problems.
Forgot to say, sometimes before Comp, Valve actually tried to do something both for Casual players and for Comp players respectively, turns out the changes affected both communities.
you do realize only like 4 of tf2's 150-ish weapons are banned in comp, yeah? and i remember it being universally agreed upon that the old sandman was annoying and stupid and not fun at all to play against, at all skill levels. also the base jumper change was something that literally did not impact the balance of it at all beyond fixing an exploit that was only abused by like the nth percentile of the nth percentile of players. it wasnt banned in comp, and it still isnt. crit o cola is still super strong idfk what you're on about aside from being a emotional and reactionary.
id be really interested in hearing what you think would be "good" balance changes. some more 8 second bleed, perhaps?
"super strong" isn't the term i would use for the crit a cola.
if you want a long range option i suggest you pick the op class sniper, instead of dealing what 80 damage at medium range you'll be able to deal -150 range with no downsides at all if you miss or whatever, since your range makes it so that anyone can't hurt you.
