The medic's melee weapons are the definition of unbalanced
Lol, we all know what weapon is the undeniable best.
the ubersaw.
and what's the worst? the stock one.

the ubersaw is not the best for combat all medic melee weapons do the same damage but the ubersaw swings slower

I wouldn't call the amputator a direct upgrade. Although it technically doesn't have any negatives to it, it forces people to taunt in the middle of a fight which turns them into extremely large targets (Not to mention Medic should be the most targetted class on the team in the first place). You're asking for a headshot/backstab if you taunt with the Medic.

However, I do feel the Ubersaw needs a different negative effect, the slower firing rate really doesnt change much. But I use Vita-saw anyways.

Then again it gives uber which can be pretty helpful for combat meds as a retreat option, and medic still runs faster than anything but scouts so you can manage to hit, get outside of melee range, get back in, hit again, and repeat, and lining it up well actually makes that slower swing speed a bonus since it means your opponent wouldn't have as good of an idea of how to counter-hit.

It's still enabling you to do something that you normally can't, and even then it heals at the same rate as a medigun so if you use it at the right times, it can do the quick-fix's job while letting you keep ubers/kritz/resistances.

All of them are good I play medic a lot so have learned all of them are good but I agree the stock is not the best due to the solem vow and amputator just being better

It's an actual downside now.

Forces?
Does it force you to do it. At any time, does it make you taunt.
Completly option ability, and if you never use it, it's same as stock.

Why would meleeing as a Medic ever need a penalty beyond the wearer trying to melee as a Medic?

Trying to go for a melee swing as the last class that should logically ever make use of their melee weapon to begin with is all but undeserving of the Übersaw's reward, doubly so considering that the Übersaw is even worse at the job of meleeing than every other weapon the
Medic can produce for that slot.

The Vitasaw on the other hand..

That too.

But mainly it's a straight, straight upgrade to stock - and not in the balanced way that has a certain teamwork-requirement taped to their rewards like the other Medic melees - in any environment where a Medic dies more often than he gets away to live with less than 11 hitpoints. Read: Every environment.

So, no requirement, no downside, and an impact that can measure up to an Über being ready 4 seconds earlier than usual.
