valve has:

1. promoted tf2 charity events involving the trevor project on the team fortress website twice now, and even allowed medals to be added for the first event

2. added a map with the "tran s. wright" easter egg, and added another map in the most recent summer update that is reference to a series of tf2 fan animations with gay characters

edit: i'm talking about applejack, which is based on the setting of the "lil pootis" series of animations by quazies. there's also a poster on the map itself that directly references the series, and again there's gay people in it.

3. hired makani to do the artwork for the team fortress comics, who has drawn heavy x medic art before. also hired ashly burch, an openly pansexual woman, to voice ms pauling, who jay pinkerton stated was a lesbian

i think it should be obvious the removal of the flag on the "desk engineer" cosmetic wasn't done for any malicious reasons. it was most likely done because valve was concerned about setting a precedent about allowing people to sneak things onto cosmetics as long as the part isn't visible in normal gameplay

Out of curiosity, what's the series?
Also that's not going to stop obnoxious people from gloating obnoxiously. If anything that happens they'd consider a win they're going to gloat until the end of time no matter how small or shallow. Pigeons playing chess and whatnot.

sorry lol i should've specified, "lil pootis" by quazies. there's a pretty big romantic subplot between lil pootis and medimedes, and blu spy and blu engineer are in a relationship

also this isn't really made to "stop" anything, i think queer people might feel dejected about the change to the desk engineer cosmetic and i want to remind them that it most likely wasn't done for nefarious reasons, it's just valve being a corporation

honestly i was kind of expecting it to be removed as soon as i saw it was added
