It's just a new quality. Like stranges or unusuals. As far as I can tell though they don't have any partical effects or track kills or anything like that.

I know that, but how people go about getting them?

Chemestry Sets. They drop randomly and then you collect the items the set tells you to get and then use the set. Then it gives you an item to change the quality of one of your items to "Collector". At least that, I'm pretty sure thats how it goes.

You got to craft a huge amount of the same weapon into one collectors weapon. Example 100 mad milks make 1 collectors mad milk.

Actually, it's 200. 200 unique items= 1 collector's edition of that item.

You get them when you have the chemistry set and 200x the item in uncommon ( yellow named ) quality

Basically

Or you can shell out about a hundred bucks in the market since that's what people are selling them for.

A hundred bucks? Seriously? Dear lord that's overpriced

Yeah, people sell them for 10 keys. And quite easily.

They are new weapon qualities found in the new chemistry sets that drop randomly. Basically a Collector's chemistry set is the best thing you could possibly find in a random drop right now. They are selling for crazy prices.

How it works is like this:
The chemistry sets require that you input 200 of one weapon into it, and then when you finish inputting 200, you will get that weapon in Collector's quality. Because there are so few, and are likely to be few once the sets are taken out of the drop system, they are very expensive and are likely to continue being expensive.

Another reason people want these so bad is because there are collector's versions of every weapon, including weapons that don't have a strange variant

I wonder what these will do to the price of metal. People might stop crafting duplicate weapons in case they get a chemistry set for a collector's weapon. The list of weapons that can have a collector's quality on the wiki seems to be growing, and I'm suspecting that maybe every weapon has a set.

Wow, that's kinda weird, considering 1 ref costs 18 weapons, and 1 collector's edition weapon costs 10 keys (some people sell it for that, at least). Basically, what I'm trying to say is: 200 weapons is about equal to 11 ref

I was refering to the chem set from which you make the collectors weapon.

I'm REALLY hoping the prices to fall, because they are currently on hype and are overpriced right now.
