Team Fortress 2
What happened to Backpack.tf item prices?
Earlier today I tried to open Backpack.tf, ant there was a message saying " Installing a big update for the site and it should be done shortly". I waited a while and opened the site and to my Horror I notice almost all of my BP's value is gone but I still have my items. My BP was 4336.97 USD with 1931 items. Now my BP value is only 275 USD with still 1931 items.
I am a major Collector of Odd Leveled Vintage Weapons (olv's) and I have approx. 220 collector leveled olv's that used to be worth 8-10 keys each and 1200+ non collector lvl'd olv's that was worth 1 ref each and now Backpack.tf says they are only worth .33 ref each with no bonuses for collector levels. There are 18 olv weapons that would have to have a price suggestion made for all 18 items and needing to show proof of the prices they are selling for, then be voted on and approved in order for their values to be changed. And from 8-10 keys each to .33 ref is "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥".
I FEEL LIKE BACKPACK.TF JUST SCAMMED ME OUT OF OVER 4000 USD. I do not think any part of this is funny. If someone did this to me in person I would just pull out my Glock and shot someone. Serious.
Does anyone else feel like they just got scammed by a site that is supposed to be there to help us. I really hope this is a mistake and will get corrected. Because I will not just sit here while I get 4000 USD taken from me. Can someone please explain why my BP's value has dropped so much and show me proof for the price changes.
That is all I am going to type right now because all it is doing is making me more upset. If this is not a mistake then TF2 economy is about to destabilize with so many drops in value for so many items. Anyways, thank you for reading and listening to me ♥♥♥♥♥.

This needs t be fixed soon or it can damage the TF2 Ecconomy.

Because Backpack.tf is the overseer of all TF2 prices...

backpack.tf is a scam to be, because they can control the prices however they wish. Unfortunatly people seem to be too stuborn to not use it.

So... what do we use then for pricing? Spreadsheet? Do we just let players "feel" what something is worth? Like selling keys for 10 ref each?

Turns out not a lot of people want vintage weapons anymore.

Is there anything different between vintages and uniques?

Yes.

No not really. They are basically the same as a unique item in gameplay. I just think it is so wrong to drop all the bonus value for olv's. The whole reason for dropping the bonus values is because some people was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about how the collector leveled olv's was over priced (this was in July 2013). Most people said that some olv items were over priced and some was under priced and others were just right.
So backpack.tf decides to drop all the value from 10+ keys for a level 0 olv to .11-.33 ref. Instead of doing the research and adjusting the appropriate items values to correct the problem. Instead they create more problems. My BP lost over 4000 USD in value and they say i should not be upset because they didn't actually take anything from me.
That is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Let us drop all the unusuals values to its base unique values and tell them that they should not be mad because nothing was actually taken from them. If anything was taken from me it was respect for bp.tf and all my hard work i did to get my BP to 4400 USD.

Backpack tf prices are set by the users based on what things are actually selling for. If you think the prices are wrong, go start a vote to fix it!

If you do not mind me asking you Smith, were you collecting odd level stranges solely for their various values?

Anything but the artificial value assigned to virtual hats from some website!
Anything but that!

To be completely honest, the demand for vintage items has probably dropped over time. Items that are vintage, genuine, collector's etc. serve no additional purpose rather than to represent a greater rarity. The only item variants that actually behave differently are stranges and unusuals, with their tracking ability and particle effects respectively. Given these game changing effects, they're more likely to be sought after than some vintage item.

Bp.tf is a suggestion not a price tag...Its just that people take them WAY to srsly bp.tf didnt take your potential money...the community did :csgogun:
