TF2 players literally cannot tolerate soundboards anymore
I'm going to assume this is mostly related to the Bot issues with many bots choosing to micspam loud music.

I've noticed in a majority of servers, casual and community. The TF2 community as a whole cannot handle soundboards anymore. Even if they know you're a genuine player and not a bot.
It wasn't always like this. Something I loved about TF2 years ago was coming across soundboards, people playing music or micspammers.
Even if you politely ask them to MUTE you by pressing ESC and clicking the ear icon, they continue to whine and complain instead wanting you out of the server because they are being too lazy.

Now? You go into a majority of servers, even if they have no rules against micspam or soundboards and they'll try to kick you for it.
And all I can think is just "why?" why is TF2 like this now?

TF2 has one of the goofiest communities on the Internet and what? Because a few aimbots are given microphone permissions that suddenly means as a collective community we now see it with disdain? I just don't get it.

Hi, in TF2 you can mute people by pressing ESC and clicking a button that looks like an ear. There you can go to someones name and mute them. Now they'll no longer bother you and it tracks across server changes.

Hi, this is called a strawman argument. It's where you take someones argument, and make up a falseified version of it, as if the person you have arguing against has said it. This is frequently used when someone can't or doesn't feel like arguing against a point, and instead boil it down to a logical extreme in order to make the argument seem weak.

Stuff that would have been fine in the past, like the Heavy x Medic audio stuff.

I think kicking them would be the better option as everyone in the server doesn’t need to manually mute them

But that's also making a decision on behalf of people who may not agree with you. While a lot of people whine, there's still people that enjoy micspam. Some decent people saying "Press F2" and etc.
because 95% of soundboard users play the same unfunny crap over and over, or play songs that last 12 years. on top of this most of you don't know how to configure your soundboard so the end product is crusty distorted audio

kicking you from servers sends the message better that you are loud and annoying

The occasional soundboard effect is okay so long as it isn't ♥♥♥♥ and isn't spammed.

Also this;

Well, I tried to be nice but it seems everyone had made their mind up before reading the thread. Kinda a shame since I wanted a real discussion.

That's your problem. You gotta be original, like joining a server at midnight New Years Eve to play Bob Ross Remixed while cosplaying your demoman. Or playing 'E1M1' or 'We're Number 1' while going on a high demopan killstreak. Or blasting Johnny Cash's 'Ring of Fire' on an alltalk server after typing '+left/right' into config while playing as a Backburner Pyro.

People find creativity funny usually.

there is a tab with an ear with a x on it and if you click that you can mute players in ur server. problem solved.
