Quickplay Was, At All Points In Time, Trash, And It Always Will Be
Besides the atrocious launch, the matchmaking system introduced in meet your match was one of the better changes the game has ever experienced, and likely ever will.

Every single argument in favor of quickplay that was ever brought up requires you to invent a whole structure of stupidity to hold up your facade of an argument against the weight of reality. I would like to hear a well-structured, sound, and true argument for why we should revert to a primitive and by all metrics inferior system purely because some people don't have enough resolution in them to separate the gushy nostalgic feeling in their tummy from their bad memory, but I won't, because no such argument exists.

You can even ask Hammerfall about this;

I’d much prefer it over the current valve matchmaking because at least I don’t have to deal with a matchmaker that uses me as the anchor when putting a bunch of deadweights on my team because it balances around elo.

Joining a pub and getting my skull kicked in is more acceptable when I know the game isn’t doing it on purpose.

It doesn't balance around elo else the matches wouldn't be horribly unbalanced and you wouldn't have literal fresh installs with tier 8 level 150 players with 10k hours. The "skill based matchmaking system" they said they implemented never worked at any point.

quickplay was good when it could put people into community servers but after that no

And why was that good? I think that was toggleable all the way throughout, just not by default.

it was on by default at first which actually will helped the rise of a lot of server communities, until some bad actors started abusing some servers (pinion and even skial were very scummy) with overpowered donator perks, then valve disabled that by default which killed most communities and then mym which put the bullet though

most of my playtime on tf2 on my potato pc was on community servers like orange and dm duel then once I got a new pc I focused on other games then mostly valve server and by doing that I missed out on a lot of fun and kino communities that were around

even if you were to bring back og quickplay it would still end up being the same with server operators abusing plugins and ♥♥♥♥ for their monetary benefits

and today those maps that I used play on? pretty much nonexistent, there's a few orange ones still around but its not the same the player numbers you had back in the day were insane, people have simply moved on from this game

apparently golden machine gun was very beloved and so was slag gaming both killed by the update that turned off connecting to community servers by default

then i think gmg was replaced by dfs which lasted a ♥♥♥♥ ton of time dying in 2023 while slag has been succeseeded by redsun which seems to still be around

It killed those servers off because it offered a better service. How is that a point for quickplay?

I wouldn't count it as improvement. Maybe it was at the very beginning when it was supposed to use elo system to balance matches instead of autobalance. But peopple started crying about long queue times (caused by a bug btw) and valve scrapped it all out. Now it's just other form of cancer where 3+ player parties are rolling servers and making autobalance useless due to how fast they're finishing maps.

The elo system never worked at any point and there certainly isn't enough parties of people playing together and being good in matches for that to be a problem.

And your source being? Valve stated it clearly on meet your match update page that players will be matched against those with similar skill. It's the reason why they removed autobalance in the first place.

Can you make a good argument on why matchmaking is a better system?

There is a statement, there isn't an argument, maybe if you read some more words you would know the difference. The thread is a clear invitation to those supporting quickplay to formulate an actual argument for it and yet all I've heard so far reaches the heights of this reply of yours.

My source is not being blind.
