Tips for Trading Metal for Keys?
So I never traded before (so I don't have any unique cosmetic items) and I have an entire page of various crates I've yet to unbox cuz I've never traded for keys (nor would rather not buy them).

1.Any beginner/sensible tips on trading (refined) metal for keys?

2.Where is the best place to trade?

3. Do diff crates cost a diff amount of metal for keys (eodl, nice, naughty, etc)

on vrates.. if you have a really rare crate like salvaged ones.. they are worth some keys.. Most other crates are worth a scrap though..

Try a trade server.. i wouldnt recommend backpack.tf or outpost yet.. since there are a lot of lowballers and sharkers around there ( people who try to get expensive items for almost nothing}
Tip. You might want to check prices for items when trading ( backpack.tf has a nice pricelist) just in case.

Metal is dropping in price really fast. You need a lot of metal to get a key nowadays.. key [price went up to 17 refined lately

I use TF2 outpost for trading and backpack.tf for checking prices. You're premium?

1. The best thing you can do to start trading is buy some keys from the market and sell them for refined metal, since they're worth about 17 ref a piece at the moment. If you can't buy keys, convert some unique weapons into metal. Look for people selling items cheap and buy them, you can later sell them for a higher price. Trade items that are high in demand.

2. TF2Outpost.com is the best place for trading in my opinion. It's easy to use and relatively hassle free, you can setup a trade and let people come to you.

3. Some crates are worth more than others, e.g. Salvaged crates. Generally crates have very little value.

4. I'd recommend you use Backpack.tf as a rough guide for item pricing, don't get ripped off!

Yikes, 17 ref for one key? Does the price ever go down or does it only inflate?

You picked a bad time to start trading. The price for metal is going down.

Just forget trading metal for keys. Not even a year ago keys were worth less than 10 refs. It's a terrible time to start trading, metal will only get cheaper and cheaper.

IMO, just buy 2 or 3 keys (from the store) and go from there. Use backpack.tf for price checking.

I recommend Srap.tf as it is fast and you get good prices I know this post is about a year old XD

From just buying the Tough Break pass for £2 I have made over a key using scrap.tf and have much more than that from skins that I haven't sold in my inventory so I recommend that you do the next campaign.
