Does the Demoman's bottle no longer shatter?
Not a big deal, but I've noticed that no matter how much I slam the bottle into walls and other surfaces, the stupid thing refuses to break. Was it changed or am I just not dedicating enough swings to break it?

It doesn't break anymore because it was too confusing for new players.

I expected this response moments after I posted this.

It was changed quite a long while ago, maybe a few months or atleast last year...

#RIP In Peace drinking empty broken bottles...

What a shame, I always got a kick out of smashing it then running out of spawn spouting drunken rambles.
First time it happened was when I used the Charge and Targe with the bottle. I thought it was a cool sideeffect of charging.

Then I somehow got it into my head that I could cause bleeding damage with the broken end.

yep, they removed the broken bottle because apparently new players were confused and thought the broken version did more damage, even though we had an ingame tip that said otherwise

and then they nerfed demo/pyro/heavy because new players would often die to them

and then they cut the EotL map because it was "too confusing" for new players

and then they added a tooltip to the stock wrench explaining what it does because new players apparently needed to be told how the engineer works, even though we have a tutorial for him

do you notice a trend here?

That Valve thinks we're all idiots? Going by the ammount of threads claiming that the pyro is overpowered, I wouldn't say that's too far from the truth.

Before it use to say that when the bottle is shattered, it does more damage if the Demoman was injured... (Sort of like the Equalizer) Or maybe I sort of misread it...

Nah, Valve is just saying that because it's an excuse to prevent them from doing ♥♥♥♥ because they're too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lazy...

Even if newer players believe the bottle does more damage, big whoop. They spend two seconds smashing it open before they take off into the field and will probably figure at one point that it holds no benefit but will do it out of habit anyway.

Much like how people still think doing damage to yourself in spawn during set-up makes the uber go up faster. It's really not a game breaking mistake in the slightest.

usually i don't agree with you, but this is one of those rare times when I do...
Man this sucks. I thought the bottle breaking was a FP LOD thing that was due to video settings. Man, we need to do something about f2ps. Based on what Valve is doing to ♥♥♥♥ up and make money help new players and the community, new players show actual retardation higher than the lump in Gaben's pants. You can decide which one Apearently despite tips and tutorials being Big things on the screen and this game being "equal"even all of that can't serve Special Ed for them.

Also, the simplest changes are starting to set me off now. Pretty soon we're going to have things like I was too lazy to actually think of something or something worse than that.

Ugh. I didn't realise this was the reason. I've already lost so much respect for valve over the last couple years, but this takes the cake.
