Alternatively you could try and find an Orange Box or physical copy of the game for sale. I'm pretty sure you can get still get a Proof of Purchase from that. But I doubt there will ever be a different way of getting the Proof of Purchase.
Thats how you can get it currently.
I bought TF2, and got the Orange Box, but that was on the Xbox.
Unless you are an amnesiac Time Traveler, might want to check into that.
I got in when I purchased that Item, So it might be the reason.
