Why do so many bronies play TF2

Why do so many bronies play TF2? I can't find a single game that doesn't have somebody called Rainbow Dash or a hundred brightly-coloured sprays of horses.

it's really annoying when you get their fandom shoved down your throat all the time. They have a pretty bad reputation on the internet and I feel that TF2 gets a lot of hate because people think the two fanbases are synonymous. The worst part was when I was telling another friend of mine who also plays games about TF2 and he said: "Oh, I heard about that. Isn't that that brony game?"

I think they play for the same reason that other fandoms play this game: It's fun.

Who cares? The can play whatever the want. Also nobody tells you in the Game to watch or start getting interest for MLP correct? This means that the aren't shoving the fandom at you. Simple go to the next server and the problem should be solved.

I agree. I am myself a brony, and I enjoy the game very much. I just don't really like when bronies get "too brony". I mean by this renaming themselves, talking about how cool the show is every second when you need him to tell you there's a spy behind you, or talking about his... "fantasies". If they just say, "Oh, I am also a brony." and that's that, I'm ok. If they rename themselves, I'm ok. If they make a spray, I'm ok. But if they do all three and it affects their gameplay and teamwork, I'm not as ok.

This may sound strange to you, but a lot of people like more than one thing. A lot of long-term TF2 players ended up also liking MLP, and since they're in both fandoms, things carry over.

It's the same thing with people who's profiles reference other games, movies, internet memes and the like.

I agree. I am myself a brony, and I enjoy the game very much. I just don't really like when bronies get "too brony". I mean by this renaming themselves, talking about how cool the show is every second when you need him to tell you there's a spy behind you, or talking about his... "fantasies". If they just say, "Oh, I am also a brony." and that's that, I'm ok. If they rename themselves, I'm ok. If they make a spray, I'm ok. But if they do all three and it affects their gameplay and teamwork, I'm not as ok.

With every fandom there is going to be those people who take it to a extreme: i'm not a brony, nor do i care about the show. If you like it fine; just leave me be and i'll do the same for you.

I think the main reason is that TF2 is so much like MLP. Think about it: Bright, cartoony charictars. Funny charictaristics that make them stand out. And each has a property that makes them valuable to the team. Whether it's the Elements of Harmony that keep Equestria Safe, or the Engie and Pybro team working together to defend the Control Point, the similarites are there.
