Golden Frying Pan Destroyed !!!!!
I could not believe what I saw this morning. A notification saying that a Golden Frying Pan was destroyed. Did any one else see this ? Why would some one do that ? Unfortunatly I did not get a screenshot. If anyone has a screen shotof this, please post it.

I really don't see why anyone should care. It's the same when someone smashes a brand new game console in a parking lot. The fact Valve put in a message to tell everyone a pan was destroyed just shows how much it feeds into the ego of the pan owner.

Look at me! I hold the fate of a 5,000 dollar virtual item! Whatever I do will be broadcast to everyone and I'll become a celeberity! Put that in the hands of some rich shmoe who wants to be the center of attention for a while and bam, pan destroyed. Nothing all that special really.

Both of these. Move on with your life and stop worrying about what other people do with their items. Unless you were planning on buying it, why does it matter what he did?

So if it nothing special, and it has been done before, does that mean that all of the appeal of getting unusual items, rare items and the trade network of TF2 is meaningless ? Is this just a game where those who are better at it and have played longer have the advantage ? Is there no pride in making your character unique among the masses that play this game ?

There's nothing wrong with wanting to make yourself look different from the masses. However you shouldn't be concerned with other's actions that will never directly affect you.

In the grand scheme of things, yes. The real appeal to getting unusuals and rare items is mostly for profit. Why else do traders horde bundles of strange gunslingers they'll never use? Because they want to sell them.

In the case of some random Joe deleting his pan, it dosen't matter because there's infinite numbers of the stupid things waiting to be claimed. Sure, they're rare, but anyone can get it by lucky chance. It's not like their no longer being produced, you can still get one with a lot of MVM skill and a lot of luck.

No use crying over someone else's spilt milk, life goes on.

A Guy Trying to destroy his/her own frying pan an wasted $5000. I know they had to, but I would have just sold it and have a whole steam library instead or just keep it.

i doubt he'll miss the gold pan

also who cares?
its just a pan
you never had it
you never would have anyhow
there really is no point other than to ignore it

p.s. the guy who did it had a trollface icon/profile pic
