You do realize all tf2 games are in the 20th century?
I don't see how it would, since CS:GO rounds are quite fast paced from what I've seen. In TF2, kills are important, but you respawn in a while. In TF2 you must do objectives as well.
In CS:GO, a single kill removes that player from the round until the next one, no respawns, and the objective is less important as it isn't necessary to complete it to win the game.
Team Fortress 2 was released in 2007, but Team Fortress Classic came out in 1999, which may be what you're thinking of. The original Quake mod came even before that, simply titled Team Fortress.
But Arena mode is not played competitively, and it is a dying gamemode. The gamemodes that focus on objectives are much longer games.
I thought they weren't worth mentioning because those projects were orphaned and never got an official release . . . right?
