how do strange hats keep score?

Played a round got a score of 40 something, strange hat only recorded 10 points though. So just curious if anyone knows what counts.

Its the strange private eye if it matters.

Pretty sure Strange Hats are identical to Strange Weapons in that they'll only track points if they were tied to an Enemy Kill. Capturing points, Intel or other Objectives don't add to the counter.

Nope, strange cosmetics are tied to the score you gain. If it doesnt work, it is bugged in some way. Why I am saying this?

Mann Co. Select Fancy Dress Uniform - around 10000 Points
Rocket Launcher + Direct Hit + Black Box kills total - around 5000.

So I'm assuming anytime you get a point on the scoreboard, it adds 1 to the counter.

I DO know it does track points, because when I got this, my PDA was a little over 2k Sentry kills. It's now heading towards 5k, and I HIGHLY doubt I have 6k kills between my Gunslinger, Wrangler, and various Shotties. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198069750134/inventory/#440_2_2608851881

It only works on weapons
