Black Screen (sound plays in background)

I've had this problem going on for me since last year and I noticed it's been happening a lot worse after previous updates. The game runs nice and smooth for about 10-15 minutes until the game freezes and goes into black screen but I can still hear the sound going on in the background. I'm using windows vista and nvidia 9800gt XLR8.

A year ago when I played this game more the black screen would only happen one time and I would ctr+alt+delete, close the game and restart it and it wouldn't happen again at all and I could play just fine. But lately it's been happening all the time in the middle of playing after re-booting TF2 multiple times.

Same with me. It's the result of the video driver crashing.

It does it every so many hours typically but after this Haloween update it happens about every 8 minutes.

I am running an older NVIDIA card as well, GTX 260m.

either a problem with your video driver or perhaps a backlight problem, hook up an external monitor to your device and see if you can see the image its a backlight problem, if u still cant see the image, its definetly the driver.

I have been having this black screen crash for a while, and none of my friends were having it, so I technically can't play team fortress 2. When I do, I warn my friends that I will crash and have to hard-reset my computer because the [Insert something here] wouldn't work. If anyone has a solution, PLEASE report it to me, because team fortress 2 is not the only game that crashes.
