Because it's wrong. No one has constant 5ms ping when it's not 5ms. It's fake and I don't want it to be fake whether it's good or not.
How do you know it's fake? Are you using net_graph to verify your ping and packet loss? You may have just found a server that's physically close to you.
Look, I am a Steam user for over 5 years now, I play TF2 and other Source Engine games for over 8 years (used to be non-steam CS player) and this is not a coincidence. As I said this anomaly started recently. I have 5ms on every server. So every server is at one location, about 100m from me. *clap clap*
Yeah, so? You never answered my questions. You only said it's fake without any additional info, so what does net_graph say? If the net_graph info is drastically different than the scoreboard ping, then it might just be a bug. Also lol @ you bringing up your user stats, as if that was relevant. People can use steam and play TF2 for years and still not know
I have 200mbps down and 50mbps up connection, pingtest.net results are 0% packet loss, 4ms ping, 1ms jitter. Usually I have about 30ms latency with european servers (as I reside in Hungary). For some reason in Steam, in VALVe games I have an exceptionally high ping. Even if I am not running any games just opening up Steam's own server browser, all servers have latency above 100ms, when they are usually 20-40ms. Non-Steam games, such as BF4 and Origin games also show about 30ms with european servers so obviously Steam is the one that's not functioning well.
I have only VALVe games installed right now, so I can't confirm if non-VALVe but Steamworks games have the same issue or not.
lol
I was left no choice. I tried everything. I tried reinstalling Steam, TF2, the LAN driver, even tried deleting registry keys and values, resetting cloud but nothing helped. Well, a complete PC reinstall fixed it. A reinstall was due anyways, I usually reinstall the whole PC about every 6-9 months to keep it clean and fast. Not a big deal though, takes 3-4 hours to restore everything.
So yea, we got a solution. lol
Funny Solution but still a solution nonetheless
