with these specs you should get atleast be able to get yourself a big bag of doritos..
but to be serious, you shuold disable v-sync. if that dont work you should tweak your drivers. make sure they are nvidia official drivers. they perform like sanic.mac os x is booty tho as even with the best hardware it will perform like ♥♥♥♥.
Your problem is you're trying to play games on a macbook air. Your hardware is limited. Not much you can do except lower resolution and quality.

It's a mac book air. That's the problem. It's a light netbook with no dedicated graphics card.
It's not going to run anything.

Get a better computer.
Your macbook air is not only not powerful to run any games but completly un-upgradeable.

You willing to build a desktop yourself? Keep the Macbook Air for mobile, but build a desktop for gaming. Put a thread in the hardware section of the community forum and you;ll get more help there.

Why do you have a Mac for anything other than video editing? Please, don't use it for anything other than video editing. Anyways, there is no way to reduce lag on a Mac than upgrading the graphics card (which is risky and hard to get one that actually works with it) or getting a better internet plan. Or you can scrap the Mac and make a custom-built computer, which is what sensible people do. If it's going to be entirely a gaming computer, I reccomend getting a Hard Drive with 500+ GB, and getting a Graphics Card with more than 10 GB of RAM. it's a bit pricey, but the most expensive aprts are the CPU, Graphics Card, and Hard Drive. After that, everything should be under $300.

You can't upgrade laptops in general, and you certainly cannot upgrade a GPU in an Apple laptop. Apple upgrades are buying another Apple device.

And it's not a good reason just to buy a Mac for video editing. Especially when you can get the same parts for less on a Windows machine.
