Team Fortress 2

Is this the end of the game for good?
The comic is over and leaves zero room for more story. Does that mean the game will be taken offline? Or that updates will simply cease?

What are your thoughts?

I doubt the game will be sunset for many many more years, but I imagine this is Valve giving closure to the community. Hopefully it culminates in one big, final update

Well, at least some closure is better than just saying nothing at all. :SoniiSalute:

Yes servers will shut down

A last update that involved more than hats would've been nice.

they will probably do updates on past things like far in the past type of things and just do updates where there was nothing written to happen in between
Please do not panic, the end of the comics, does not mean the end of the game, they are still working on a major update sometimes after Deadlock gets out of beta.

And where's the evidence to back that up?

the story is done, the game is not and valve wont cease development of a game with a huge fanbase like that since tf2 still generates a lot of revenue from case opennings and MVM.
(also heavy update was promissed to be delivered and they didnt mention they were stopping the updates)

technically it can't be taken offline unless valve disables the masterserver for community servers (and even then someone would probably get make a new one within a week). but yeah no more major updates from here on out.

they made that promise like 7 years ago, no? If we get any major update it's not likely to be the heavy update, if anything it'll be either a misc update with various new weapons and no class-based theme or just a Source 2 upgrade.
I very hope that they make this into a movie, now that the comics are now complete.
