EDIT: I misread, the ending takes place in '79. Darn...
There are parts that feel rushed and the Korean Mafia subplot + Merasmus showing up again just to die was strange. Otherwise it’s really just an Administrator lore drop and a happy fast forward vision for the mercenaries.
I always figured TF2 was pretty much on community life support now and that VALVe would officially be "finished" with it after the comic. I guess we'll see in 2025 if they'll still do event updates.
Also, is the Administrator blood-related to Zepheniah Mann? In the three variation covers, all they have in common is a girl wearing purple crying over the death of her parents. My guess the parents were blood-related to the Manns, that or a contract kill by them, and Helen/Emily/Elizabeth got revenge by ruining Zepheniah's family over a feud that last over one and a half centuries.
Perhaps one of her parents were the sibling to Zeph. Zeph explains that it's just "natural" for Mann siblings to kill one another off, which is why she made sure the brothers were on equal terms for so long.
I mean, I highly doubt they will do a "Team Fortress 3", but they could make something new set in the same world. (Deadlock, while may have similar style, takes place in the early 20th century and it's Maelstrom lore contradicts a lot of TF2 lore)
But all-in-all, we kinda knew that despite TF2s activity, VALVe was losing interest in it and would be a matter of time before it's no longer marketable. (They'll probably still have community updates and sell keys because they're the bare minimum for squeezing out money from the remaining playerbase.) I figured that day would be the day the final comic comes out and the "story" officially ends.
