TF2 Sniper Gameplay VS COD Sniper Gameplay
I want to know something. Why is it that whenever I see Call Of Duty videos, every Sniper is running around the map trying to get up close to the enemy and quickscope him as if they are an offense class? And when I see TF2 videos of Sniper gameplay, I see players playing Sniper the way Snipers were meant to be played, staying hidden, far away and camping? They just stay out of sight or far away and take longshot kill where in COD you would be called out for that as a stupid unskilled hardscoper. What prevented players from playing Snipers in TF2 like how players play Snipers in COD? Why don't TF2 players run around and try to quickscope everyone and just hid and try to stay out of sight or distance and get long shot kills. I do this too, stay far away, out of sight or far away and get headshot kills or a body shot everyone in a while but what is preventing players from playing like players play Sniper in COD? Someone explain please. :)

Snipers with disgusting aim can get in your face and quickscope you. Ruins the fun for everyone.

TF2 Snipers do quick-scope. Nobody charges shots when you get into higher levels of play.

The difference is that quick-scoping in TF2 requires skill (which is why most players hard-scope), whereas in CoD you take advantage of the game's generous aim assist to cheese it (which is why most players quick-scope).

body multipliers and differences in effective combat ranges

in TF2, you only get meaningful damage from hitting the head, which is wonky at best with source hitboxes
in addition to that, players move around fast enough that you can't reliably hit people at close range
it's not the kind of class that you can play like that

in CoD, bolt action snipers typically do around 98 damage with body multipliers that can push it up over 100
most sniper rifles can get 1shot kills on the head, upper chest, upper arms, and sometimes the lower torso/upper legs depending on the game/rifle

due to this, sniper rifles can more reliably be used at close range, although you're typically still at a heavy disadvantage compared to an SMG/AR/Shotgun user

on console, there's a heavy amount of aim assist and stickyaim on sniper rifles, meaning you can just scope in and the aim assist will do most of the work for you, giving you pretty easy close range kills

it's something the CoD community has been complaining about for a while

it's also important to note that in TF2, there's nothing that can really threaten a sniper at long range

in CoD, ARs/SMG/LMGs can melt a sniper even at long ranges, with recoil being the only thing keeping an SMG user from killing a sniper across the map in the 5 first bullets of his mag, so there's less incentive to sit in the back of the map

it's also a lot more fun to get in people's faces and practice your aim than it is to sit in a bush picking people off with no effort

Those little CODfish are just pathelic and basically, i don't think they have the potential to play like any TF2 sniper does, i seen COD snipers play for themselves and eventually, they don't wanna visit this game ever again because the graphics are "stuffed up" and COD is the best game ever.

Ironically though, Shibby, Uncle Dane and many TF2 players play COD and they love it, so i don't blame them if they want a break from it every once in a while.

P.S: Pardon my fanboy-ness and i know it's very disgraceful but this is my god's honest opinion towards them
Cod fish tasts disgusting.

COD3's aim assist is the most prominent, especially in Single Player. Even with a scoped weapon.
