Why do people sink so many hours into TF2?

I've come across people who have sank like 10,000 hours in this game and it's truly baffling in like a good way. I want to ask why stay around and play for so long and what's there to do in the game that keeps players playing for 100's and 1000's of hours it's incredible I don't think I've ever seen a game like it.

i have so many hours in warframe because there's no much to farm i thought tf2 was just a normal hero shooter really :O

Because time spent having fun is not time wasted, and TF2 tends to be enjoyable for at least some people.

that's fair from what i've played pre and post bot problem the game is very very fun mostly in community servers because i feel people talk more and i love the maps!

Gameplay is pretty tight, also the character customization and unboxing / trading addiction does it for some people ig.

same way people spend thousands of hours writing or painting or gardening. simple fun. it's not unhealthy unless you're on for like 6 hours a day everyday or some crap. also the incredibly high skill ceiling for all of TF2's classes and moreso for it's weapons helps out a lot.

I have a steamroll problem for dopamine rush and being better. I think tf2 is a naturally unhealthy game I love it when arguments happen and stick to dustbowl or thundermountain

I think it's because the gameplay, characters, loadout options, and customization options is why people play this game for that long. Plus this is one of those games where there's so much more to learn. Like advanced movement tech with sticky/rocket jumping, learning how to go from your spawn to the enemies spawn in just a few rockets and still have enough HP to fight. There's just a lot of crazy ♥♥♥♥ you can do in this game you can't in others. Like ♥♥♥♥ man I've been playing for almost 15 years now and there's still ♥♥♥♥ I can't do.

Some people just really enjoy the game I guess.
All though I know some of them most likely idle.
