The Dead Ringer is overrated.

I've seen people say this is the best cloak, but, it's just, not...

Sure, it lets you escape death, though it sometimes doesn't even work cause you'll die anyway, often to a Pyro who you were too close to. And it has a lengthy cooldown, that you cannot end prematurely using ammo packs. And the loud ass uncloak sound isn't fun either.

When you use this, you lose the utility of cloaking on demand. You have to TAKE DAMAGE to cloak, which, makes it harder to get behind enemy lines. You can take damage intentionally in order to activate it and run behind enemy lines, but this gives away that you're using a dead ringer and makes people more aware of it.

And if you get caught in the open while it's on cooldown, all you can really do is just die, unless the person is low on health, or is a class with lower max health and you're a good shot, but most of the time you're gonna just die if you get caught by an enemy while it's on cooldown. At least with the default watch or cloak and dagger, you can cloak and just maybe slip away. Now, you could wait for its cooldown to end before you go and attack to ensure you'll be able to get away, but then you're wasting a lot of time waiting for it to come back.

The ability to escape death is very helpful, sure, but that's at a massive tradeoff of being unable to cloak on demand, which, is entirely not worth it if you ask me, as the ability to do that as a Spy is VERY important.

It's the Kunai Spies that typically swear by the Dead Ringer. Understandably so I think, because you are so fragile at the start.

Other than that, I think it's fine. I think it's fair to call it overrated though.

Dead Ringer is the best invis watch if you want to play aggressively, and by aggressively I mean guns blazing, but that's not saying much because it's literally the only watch that reduces damage. Think of it like a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ parry.

I was going to add a part saying you should never go guns blazing as spy but if you take the gun part literally you aren't actually that bad depending on what gun you use. Still, don't expect to be the most useful person on the team.

It's the other way around, good players will kill a dead ringer spy all day, they can see him sooner and catch him no problem.

Wdym up against a fairly competent team??? Invis is much better at fighting against a competence team. Also the point of spy is that he kills 1 important class and he dies anyway

No, that is not the point of spy, that is the point of spy in the gamemode played by less than zero percent of the playerbase most of the times. I can't believe how terible spy youtubers have managed to instantiate this asinine BS.
