Team Fortress 2
Valve should oficially add serverblight to TF2
alright, so we all know tf2 has been around forever. it’s a legendary game, but let’s be real, it could use something fresh. not just another batch of hats or reskins—something different. enter serverblight, a creepy community legend that’s been floating around for a while. if valve actually made it an official update, tf2 could get some serious new life.

what is serverblight?

if you don’t know, serverblight is this spooky tf2 creepypasta about weird, haunted servers. you join a game, and things are just... off. maps don’t load right, sounds are glitched, chat messages appear out of nowhere. sometimes, there’s a weird player who doesn’t act normal. some people say they got disconnected for no reason, or saw something move in the shadows. basically, it’s the perfect kind of weird for tf2’s janky but lovable engine.

so why not make it an actual thing?

what a serverblight update could look like

instead of just another scream fortress event, the serverblight update could be more of a meta-game. something that makes players question what’s real instead of just another goofy halloween event.

key features

1. server weirdness

-randomly, certain servers could start "glitching"

-maps could have subtle corruption—wrong textures, weird lighting, occasional distant noises

-scoreboard might flicker or disappear, voice lines could be reversed or distorted

2. weird player entities

-some bots (or real players?) could act off—standing still, moving strangely, vanishing

-if you kill one, they drop "corrupt data" that you need to collect

3. a mystery to solve

-players have to track down anomalies and figure out what’s going on

-chat logs, hidden messages in the maps, and random clues help piece together the story

if enough data is collected, the "infection" can be contained before the event ends

4. cosmetics & rewards

-eerie, glitchy skins that distort slightly when viewed from certain angles

-a taunt where your character flickers in and out like a bad connection

-a weapon skin that distorts after every kill

why this would be awesome

tf2 is liminal.
we’ve all played on an empty server and felt weird about it. tf2 has this weird, old-school atmosphere that makes stuff like this work. adding serverblight would just lean into that.

brings players together
this would get people to talk and work together, kinda like an arg. imagine players documenting weird server events, sharing clips, and figuring out the mystery in real time.

easy to make
valve doesn’t even need to do much. small map edits, some audio tweaks, and spooky server settings could make a huge impact without breaking the game. tf2 thrives on weird, low-effort-but-fun updates.

creepypasta culture is huge
serverblight already feels like something that should be real. valve tapping into that kind of internet horror culture would be a genius move.

make it happen, valve
this could be the most unique tf2 event in years. instead of just another round of halloween silliness, we could get something genuinely weird and exciting. tf2 has always had that "weird internet game" energy, and this would just push it to the next level.
if you’re down for this, spread the word. the infection is waiting.

that would both be disruptive for new players and suck for old players, the only reason serverblight is slightly scary is because of the fear of the unknown, you add an update that announces big scary ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ monster and people won't be too afraid of the big scary ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ monster because they know the big scary ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ monster exists
thats the thing, you would do it only on halloween, and the full range of features may affect only the servers running halloween maps. but you could put slight hints of it into normal maps during the period too, like just slight audio and visual cues in specific parts of the map, it would be amazing.
and also they should put it but not announce it, or just have a slight nod at the end of the log, like mojang with herobrine
I think that now that the SDK for TF2 has released, this has a very high possibility, especially for Scream Fortress 2025!

Valve really would never add it themselves, but someone else could, just like how TF2C is coming to steam.

i like ur ideas except for the corrupt data because i think that would make it obvious that it was not real

maybe it is undisclosed- its not called "corrupted data" but rather shows up as a corrupted item on the inventory with a glitchy name, and the more you collect, you can organize them in lines to form a secret message!
