Team Fortress 2
How to enable Chinese Simplified?
So I just got windows 8 and I installed steam so I can play portal, tf2, etc... but when I try to type han zi (chinese) in the chat like I did with windows 7, it just shows up as boxes. I can type Russian, English, German, etc. all fine, but it's just Chinese that's not working. I should also clarify that I don't want the language of the game changed, my native language is english and I'd like to keep it that way, it's just that I would like to be able to speak chinese in game too. Thanks!

Yeah I can type fine in windows 8, although steam won't even try to let me input mandarin. Not even boxes show up. I think I remember being able to post stuff in chinese before...

In game it shows up as boxes but in here it doesn't recognize the input is what I'm trying to say.

No other suggestions? Does it help that I can't see names in mandarin of other players?

maybe changing steam's language to chinese could work
but then again you don't want to do it, so idk

I was under the impression that would set the primary language as Chinese

Okay, but it won't let me see anything but the first character option of what I am typing in chat. If I type in "shi" for example, I can type the most common type of "shi" just fine, but any others I am not able to see. Idk if that makes any sense, it's hard to explain if you don't already type in chinese.

Does anyone know if it's a problem with steam or a problem with Windows 8?

It's always worked in other programs, and still does.

Doesn't work at all with the Google IME.
