Refined Metal worth in Real Life?

The other day, it dawned on me I play too much TF2, as I almost asked someone if I could buy their sweet beanie for 2 refined. I obviously didn't, but the question remains:
Just how much is a refined metal worth in real life? Does anyone know?

from what i can tell, about a 15 cents a pound for used/scrap metal. couldt find pricing for metal bought straight from the factory (what machinists use)

So not referencing tf2, you take that #, multiply ot by 3, then take that #, and multiply that by 3 and badangarang! you have the price of refined metal

Depends upon the metal. U-235 is probably fairly expensive and difficult to get at high levels of purity.
