Bills hat hate
Why do people just hate bills hat and yet own them or collect them or even use them as currency?

Is it because it maybe over used slightly or is there like a hipster complex where because its such a mainstream hat they dislike it?

I personally like how the bills hat looks. Its easy to make almost any loadout look good with it to me.
I don't own one at the moment, but I did before and I liked it

Its overrated, and its rare enough to cost 20 dollars in irl money.

Extremely overused, and horrifyingly ugly with most paints. The reason it has value is because of how rare it was to obtain, seeing as it was a promotional item from Left 4 Dead 2, which was expensive at the time of release.

Which paints specificly?
Obviously lime, purple and pink are ugly as hell, but I think black and white look very nice, and team paint is alright.

It wasn't always hated. Back in the day, it was the used along with Buds as currency. It seemed that everyone was wanting one and was quite popular.

The hate really seemed to take off back when another rare hat came into the game. Even though it was truly rarer as far as numbers go, it still wasn't valued or regarded as being as good as the Bill's. Not all, but a lot of owners of this new hat found this to be very irritating and initiated a lot of threads and arguments to prove this new hat should be more valuable. Supply and demand just wasn't working. Supply was small but so was demand. One of their arguments was the Bill's hat was butt ugly, not as rare, and shouldn't be valuable at all.

Then over a few days this new hats value doubled and tripled on outpost trades. Turns out the hat was being traded between a few of the owners for very high prices. This made the value jump crazy high and as speculators will do, people started thinking they needed to get one. Now while the price didn't stay as high as the few who tried to manipulate the value, it did start an upward trend that would never have occurred if it wasn't for that same initial manipulation. Now, of course it's value is considerably higher than Bill's

Bill's actually isn't a rare hat. (over 173,000 of them - only 35 more common cosmatics out of 777)
It most definitely is overrated.
However,it is not a bad hat. I own and wear one myself.

I like the bills, being the only all-class hat I have. It also has a nice, polished look, and it looks really nice with teams spirit.

When I was new to trading a player bragged about his bills hat and insulted my 1.33 ref craft hats

I asked him what makes his bills such a good hat compared to the rest
Now that I have an kill-a-watt dapper i dont care anymore

I actually wound up copying that guys loadout, almost to a T (minus the Essential Accessories).
